A MESSAGE PLUS PHOTOS FROM OUR CO-ORDINATOR …..

Dear Team & Helpers,

Firstly a big thank you to you all.

Over the past ten weeks we have worked on many Saturday afternoons, sorting the many donations and carefully packing all the items safely into cartons & completing the necessary paperwork for customs.

Last Saturday (21st April) we had a small team packing the last few “must go” items, then topping up our allocated space with cartons of white A4 paper. (Thank you Pureprint)

This is a bit of a milestone as this is our tenth container to Malawi, this has truly been such a team effort with very many of our parishioners packing for many Saturdays, over many years –  and some very cold Saturdays I may  add.

We have also been blessed by so much help from many people who have given so much of their time to make our container project such a success it has become.

We must give a very big thank you to all the donors from outside the parish.  We have been blessed by Tyler’s for supplying our container project with a warehouse to enable us the store, sort & pack ready for onward shipment to Malawi.  Without their continued support this project would not be possible, so a big thank you  to Ruth.   We are also blessed with so many companies, organisations, schools & individuals, (far to many for me to name) spread over a very wide area, including Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire & South East London.   May I thank you all on behalf of our friends in Malawi, without your help our Malawi Container project would not be possible.

Also a very big thank you to Chris Burt for securing a lorry from his company (Lenham Storage) for transportation to Birmingham, they have replaced T & T Express, who provided their services for the past nine years, thank you to Cora & Liam.

We have one last task to complete: this is load our lorry on Friday 11th May at 7-00 pm, for its onward journey the following day (Saturday 12th May) to meet the Malawi container in Birmingham.

I hope that many of you will be able to come & help us celebrate the completion of Container Ten.   Fr Peter will bless our load & Tina will provide Irish Tea Cake & there will be “bubbly” to conclude the evening.

So Please make a note of the date, it will be good to see all our helpers & hopefully many of our donors.

The date once again is –  Friday 11th May at 7-00 pm, I truly hope to see you all.

I have attached details of the destinations of our cartons, with numbers of cartons, cubic capacity & weights.

Also included are some photos of our 2018 container project & lastly directions and a site map of our warehouse.

A big thank you & Best Wishes to you all,

Brian Wilkins.

The final Photos for 2018 …

APRIL 2018

Update of Container Number Ten – Departure date 12th May 2018

Dear Friends, Supporters, Donors and Container Packers,

Firstly, may I thank each of you for all for your dedication and help over the past weeks.  We have achieved so much, since there was as always much to sort and pack, which you carried out to perfection.

There are so many items that we just take for granted, that we have securely packed ready for onward shipment. These will change the lives of so many of our friends in Malawi.  I am sure that, you like me, will have been privileged to be a part of our parish container project.

We are almost fully packed, with just 65 cubic feet remaining, this is reserved for some items which must go but not yet available to pack, we also have lots of paper still to go, kindly donated from Pureprint Ltd of Uckfield – Thanks Denzil!

Once again, our Tenth container to Malawi is well oversubscribed.

The generosity of our donors and parishioners who have given freely of their time, donations in cash and items for shipment, have once again far exceeded our costs.

So  this year I have again been able to purchase £2000 worth of school materials (pens, pencils, chalk, crayons, rules, scissors & many other items).

We have also been able to replenish ink cartridges for printers which have been sent in previous containers.

Our Malawi container project is blessed with so many donors who have supported our project over many years, they are spread both locally & much further afield.  Indeed we have many supporters from Kent, Sussex, Hampshire & south London.  These range from Schools, companies and other organisations.

This year we have a new donor:  Lenham Storage (kindly arranged by Chris Burt).

Lenham Storage have come to our aid to provide us with transport from Tonbridge to meet the container in Birmingham (which we share with the Anglican diocese of Birmingham), on Saturday 12th May 2018.

They have offered to provide us with a lorry & the fuel totally free of charge, this will save our project many hundreds of pounds, which can be used for the benefit of our friends in Malawi.

I must thank T & T Express Deliveries who provided the transport for our previous nine containers, who sadly closed last July, but continue to support our project.  Tom Halloran, husband of one of the partners, has offered to drive the 18tonne lorry this year.

This will be our tenth container to Malawi, which is a bit of a milestone.  The  project has grown each year, and has  only been possible because of all the help that you have given.

I have received so many letters and  e-mails of thanks from our friends in Malawi.  People who are very poor and have very little.  They are so grateful to you all for all your help & support.

May I thank you all on behalf of all our friends in Malawi.

Thank you all, with my best wishes,

Brian Wilkins.       Dated 15th April 2018
